I’ve worked with my Grove Avenue Neighbors: performing traffic and speed monitoring on Grove Avenue to get traffic calming installed (1993); working to save West End Park when development was knocking at the door (2004); working to get zone parking in the neighborhood in advance of Founders Row construction (2018); and working on the locations for added speed humps funded by Founders Row (2021).
Volunteer Garden Committee and Neighborhood Tree Program member partnering with the City Urban Forestry crews to plant trees around Falls Church and to clean and beautify the gardens in the 100 and 200 blocks of West Broad Street.
Helping Neighbors and My Community
I served six years on the Board of Zoning Appeals, including two terms as chair and was a member and Chair of the Zoning Ordinance Advisory Committee. I volunteer and serve as both Board Member and Officer of the Village Preservation and Improvement Society (VPIS) and volunteer as the building manager of the Scout House on Spring Street. And if there is an opportunity to rally with my neighbors to improve safety, preserve our City vibe, and plot a better, greener future, I’m there ready to give my time and effort.
Although I’ve served on City Boards and Commissions, many neighbors know me as the lawn mower guy for fixing their lawn mowers. I love to work on small engines, old cars, and tinker with just about anything. Over the years, my hobbies have been a way for me to help my neighbors and my community. From building a pinewood track for the Neighborhood Tree Program fundraiser, hanging nets at the batting cage at the high school, delivering mulch with the Athletic Boosters, doing yard work for seniors, helping build the sand volleyball court in Cherry Hill park as an Eagle project to planting trees in City space and plants to beatify Broad Street, I give both my time and effort to the Falls Church community that I love.
